I love the cinema. I could sit and watch movies for days on end. As a matter of fact growing up I always wanted to work in film (I did briefly and that’s a whole other story) as a set designer because I am fascinated by the attention to detail that goes into creating a story. The books on a shelf behind the main character, the color of the walls of the house, the type of furniture, these things tell the true story to me and begin to peel back the layers and reveal a little more about each character. It makes the story more personal.

This is the same approach I take to my images. You can call them photographs but I think of them as so much more. I want every frame to tell a story, more importantly your story. I want to capture the subtle details that make your day about you and the things that matter most in your life. I don’t have clients, I make new friends and as with any friendship I spend time to get to know you so I recognize the moments that are important to you, not just the ones that make a good image.

So please, sit back with a big cup of coffee (the more cream and sugar the better I say) and take a look at some of the stories I have had the privilege of telling and if you like what you see feel free to call anytime cause I love making new friends.

Dylan= 1 month old

To my first baby boy. You made me a Mother and my heart multiplied by 100%. You have filled our lives with so much joy and excitement in such a short amount of time. You gave us new meaning. New thrills. You are so expressive and pour out such joy. I’m so excited to watch you grow. Learn. And have adventures of all kinds. Here are your many faces at one month old.

You plan for every detail. You invite every friend. Pick the songs, eat the cake and learn the steps. Cross every T dot every i. What I’ve noticed is no one plans what you do the moment it all goes off without a hitch… That’s when natural comes into play. Love fills the air. And the world keeps going

It’s not been hard to notice that I haven’t blogged in a while. Well thank you to anyone who still checks this site! Hahaha. There has been a lot going on in the life of Ryel j. I have been honored to capture so many beautiful and sweet Bride’s weddings this Summer. And I swear they will make an appearance on this blog. However we finished up capturing our wedding season in the nick of time because the Husband and I have been blessed to welcome our first born Dylan James Hendrickson, born on Monday November 15th, 2010. We’ve already warned him that the camera is just Mommy’s third hand.

When the Husband and I found out about the pending arrival of lil D we knew we were parents then. We made many parental decisions. We planned. We starting learning about this world of everything baby. But when we met him face to face on Monday night, Love Multiplied in a way that I never thought was possible. People warned me. And I knew that we would love him like no other… but the Husband and I have truly learned what LOVE is.

Now I’ve never been one to keep a good thing quiet ;) . Please check out my good friend Joy’s  beautiful blog to hear how she made in just in time!

Our life has changed forever. It’s deeper. Fuller. Exciting. Nerve racking. But I think my Gumps said it best when he said, “Your lives have new meaning.”
