Tanks, Coca Cola, Bats and Horses

The Husband’s younger brother Joel graduated from basic training in the US Army. We flew out to Kentucky, Fort Knox to Celebrate and Support him in his career. Not having children of our own yet, I think this is the proudest I’ve ever felt for someone else. Joel has accomplished a lot in the last 15 weeks and yet doesn’t brag about a single thing. I admire that. He willing serves to protect our precious Freedoms both at home and abroad. I stand in awe of that. Here are a few pictures (off our point and shoot… enough said) of Private Joel Hendrickson!!

Before we took off for Fort Knox to watch Joel graduate the Army told us that Joel could get anywhere from 1 hour of leave to 2 weeks. The Husband and I planned on staying in Kentucky for 5 days on the hopes that Joel would get the weekend before his next post. When Joel received his orders he had 6 hours of leave. He was off to his new post in no time. So confidant and excited!

With a few days left on our trip we decided to see all that we could see. 1st stop the Coca Cola museum in Elizabethtown. If you know me… you know I’ll take a tour of anything. I just love tours. And I’m a total Coca Cola fan.

Elizabethtown has a ton of history… you may have heard about it because of Cameron Crowe

During one of our dinners a little 5 year old Lilly came up to our table and gave us portraits she had drawn of us :)  See the resemblance? This was a super fun highlight of our trip!

Kentucky is known for their Bourbon. Another tour? Why yes please?

For those of you who know the Husband, know that he is a huge Baseball fan. Fan is stating it lightly. Tour #3 :) Louisville Slugger. Check

About two hours before we were due to fly out, we decided to wrangle in another tour. Imagine who was prompting? Next up Churchill Downs!!

We took the tour… and that was… well a tour. Then we met Woody on the 2nd floor and got THE REAL TOUR!!! Best tour of my life to date. Woody was hilarious, charming and full of spunk! Can’t wait to connect again.

I’m a city girl to the core. While visiting Kentucky I fell in love with the country!! We live in a great Country. Thank you to all the Men and Women who server so selflessly and valiantly to protect our Country.
